An established, family-owned civil contractor with a long history of delivering infrastructure projects across the Houston area is looking to recruit an Estimator with experience in concrete paving and underground utilities.
The company works with developers, home builders and municipal clients, delivering projects including concrete street paving, bridges, underground utilities and drainage infrastructure.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join an established contractor where your estimating expertise will contribute directly to winning and delivering civil construction projects.
You'll get to expand your experience in:
- Concrete street paving and roadway construction
- Underground utilities and drainage
- Earthwork and associated civil works
- Pricing projects for developers and municipal clients
- Working closely with operations and project teams to develop competitive, realistic estimates
- The RolePrepare cost estimates and bid proposals for concrete paving and civil construction projects.
- Review plans, specifications and bid documents to establish project scope.
- Complete quantity take-offs and calculate material, labour and equipment costs.
- Price concrete paving, drainage and underground utility work.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Assess construction methods, production rates and project risks.
- Identify potential cost savings and value-engineering opportunities.
- Coordinate with operations and project management during bid preparation and project handover.
- Submit accurate, competitive bids within deadlines.
What We're Looking For
- Estimating experience in heavy civil construction or civil infrastructure.
- Strong experience with concrete paving estimates.
- Some experience estimating underground utilities or drainage.
- Ability to interpret civil plans and specifications.
- Strong quantity take off, pricing and cost analysis skills.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
