Early Years Practitioner

About the Role:

The local authority is looking for experienced practitioners to contribute to the daily operation of its children's centres and early years settings. Roles are available across different settings depending on your qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to all aspects of daily setting operations, including implementing operational plans and procedures.
  • Deliver curriculum and educational programmes to children.
  • Ensure full care and supervision of children, meeting their individual needs.
  • Support smooth transitions for children between early years settings and primary schools.
  • Follow health and safety procedures, including safeguarding, cleaning routines, and administration of children's records.
  • Use setting resources effectively and cost-efficiently.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, equality, and inclusion.
  • Implement setting policies and procedures in line with OFSTED standards.
  • Promote the setting to parents, local schools, early years settings, and the community.
  • Work in partnership with schools, agencies, and network childminders to deliver multi-agency services.
  • Attend planning and staff meetings as required.
  • Be flexible to work across different children's centres and early years settings.
  • Undertake other duties necessary for the smooth running of the setting.

Requirements:

  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in childcare/early years.
  • Current DBS check.
  • Experience working with children in early years or similar settings.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child development.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
